Dérivation / Déviation / Réduplication

L’installation «Dérivation / Déviation / Réduplication» est la réactivation de l’installation «Déviation» réalisée en 2019 au Somail, pour le parcours d’art contemporain « Horizons d’Eaux #3 », imaginé par les Frac Occitanie le long du Canal du midi.
En drains agricoles jaune et noir, l’installation initiale « Dérivation » s’est développée et propagée pour l’exposition « recyclage/surcyclage » sur l’ascenseur de la Fondation Villa Datris. L’élaboration en lien avec le verre de cette création in situ «Dérivation / Déviation» a été un vrai labyrinthe mental que l’on retrouvait dans la forme finale. Ici, l’installation est réactivée au sol en «Dérivation /Déviation / Réduplication». Ses formes en drains agricoles noirs et jaunes, initialement conçues sur façade, viennent s’implanter dans le parc des Aubrys et faire écho aux aires de jeux pour enfants auxquels le parc est dédié. Avec un décalage subtil, les couleurs et les arrondis viennent flirter avec le ludique, tout en développant leur inutilité d’usage. Les éléments cette fois-ci autonomes jouent avec la dimension horizontale, leur implantation permettant des apparitions, en dialogue avec l’espace qui les accueillent et entre les différentes formes.
Le drain agricole que je détourne depuis plusieurs années évoque l’idée de flux, de connexions, de conductions, de passages et de traversées.

The « Derivation / Deviation / Reduplication » installation is a reactivation of the « Déviation » installation produced in 2019 at Le Somail, for the « Horizons d’Eaux #3 » contemporary art trail devised by the Frac Occitanie along the Canal du Midi.
Using yellow and black agricultural drains, the initial « Dérivation » installation developed and spread for the « recyclage/surcyclage » exhibition on the lift at the Villa Datris Foundation. Working with the glass to create this in situ installation « Derivation / Deviation » was a real mental labyrinth. This idea was reflected in the final form. Here, the installation is reactivated on the ground in « Derivation / Deviation / Reduplication ». The black and yellow agricultural drain forms, originally conceived for the façade, are set in the Aubrys park, echoing the children’s play areas to which the park is dedicated. With a subtle shift, the colours and curves flirt with playfulness, while developing their uselessness. The elements, this time autonomous, play with the horizontal dimension, their placement allowing them to appear in dialogue with the space that welcomes them and between the different forms.
The agricultural drain that I’ve been hijacking for several years evokes the idea of flows, connections, conductions, passages and crossings.
