Corruption de l’analogie / part I

Cette installation regroupe plusieurs pistes de recherches dans mon travail.
Elle est réalisée dans un matériau industriel que je détourne de son usage premier. Ici il s’agit de PVC noir expansé 3 mm, (support de contrecollage ou d’impression pour la publicité).
Découpé en lamelles de 2 cm sur 2 m, je joue sur les courbures, torsion et résistance du matériau jusqu’à la limite de la rupture.
L’intérêt est de mettre en lien deux éléments contradictoires entre la froideur du matériau inerte et le côté vivant qui s’en dégage, après manipulations, par les courbes.
Il s’agit en partie de signifier le corps, peut-être par son absence.
Par ce matériau et la manière dont il est manipulé, s’est affirmé un dessin dans l’espace dont le point de vue en contreplongée rappelle une cartographie, un entrelacs de voies dont le volume devient topographique.

This installation brings together several lines of research in my work.
It is made from an industrial material that I divert from its original use. In this case, it’s 3 mm black expanded PVC (used for laminating or printing in advertising).
Cut into strips measuring 2 cm by 2 m, I play with the material’s bending, twisting and resistance to the breaking point.
The idea is to bring together two contradictory elements: the coldness of the inert material and the liveliness of the curves that emerge after manipulation.
It’s partly a question of signifying the body, perhaps through its absence.
Through this material and the way it is manipulated, a drawing in space asserts itself, with a low-angle viewpoint reminiscent of cartography, an interlacing of paths whose volume becomes a topography.
